Cecil Sidney Pannell

Cecil Sidney Pannell, 78 most recently of Bastrop, passed away with his loving family at his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. Cecil’s family will gather on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown, at 3:00PM for a service celebrating Cecil’s life and his faith with Reverend Jarvis Philpot officiating. Interment will follow at IOOF Cemetery.

Cecil was born on December 18, 1933 in Travis County, to the late Arthur Sidney and Belle A. Hudson Pannell. Cecil lived in the Austin area for many years, graduating from Austin High School. He worked for many years for the Borden’s Milk Company in the IT department; Cecil was a supervisor in the data processing division when he retired. Cecil was an avid golfer, traveling with his golf buddies all over the hill country to play golf. One of his favorite courses in the area was Star Ranch. He was also a talented musician, enjoyed singing and playing his guitar for family and friends. Being outdoors in nature gave Cecil great peace; he enjoyed gardening and growing roses. He had a passion for reading the Bible; his daily devotion to reading the scripture gave him strength to make it through his days. Cecil and his wife Lorene L. Hullum Pannell were longtime members of Crestview Baptist Church.

Cecil leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of over 24 years, Lorene H. Pannell, his son, Larry Pannell and his wife Linda; his stepchildren, Roger Dale Hullum and his wife Jerry Lynn, Doug F. Hullum and his wife Sandi, Brenda Sue Plunk, and Fendi Lorene Hullum; his grandchildren Michael Pannell and Kristi Pannell; his step grandchildren, David Wayne Hullum and his wife Kristen, Blake Hullum, Katie Hullum, Scott Hullum, Alicia Plunk, and Holly Plunk; along with a host of other loving family and friends.
